Creating a Culture for Entrepreneurship at UNI!

The John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center was pleased to present the UNI Entrepreneurship Symposium on September 26, 2007, from 3-5 p.m. in Maucker Union on the University of Northern Iowa campus. This event was designed to raise awareness among students, staff, and faculty of entrepreneurship and entrepreneurship in small businesses and at the University.

This year's featured speakers were successful UNI alumnae and business women. They told about the joys and sorrows of starting a business, where to go for resources and assistance, and everything else entrepreneurial.

3-4 p.m.		Keynote Linda Lundstrom Cook, CFP, Co-Owner of Gilbert & Cook Inc. A financial planner since 1989, Linda received a BA in business from UNI and earned her Certified Financial Planner designation from the College of Financial Planning in Denver, CO. She is a past president and member of the Financial Planning Association (FPA) of Iowa. She received the 1996 Young Alumni of the Year award from UNI, serves as a board member for the UNI John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center. She is the past president for the UNI Alumni Association. Linda is married with two children and lives in Des Moines.
4-5 p.m.		Entrepreneurial Panel Dr. Jill Hartzell, chiropractor, race car company owner, race car driver, and boxer Jo Dorhut, CEO, Virtual Interactive Families Lori McConville, Vice President of Barmuda Corporation, former owner of her own marketing company Katie Hesse, realtor; President of the Cedar Valley Jaycees
