T. WAYNE DAVIS CHAIR IN ENTREPRENEURSHIP HISTORY

Initially established in the College of Business Administration with seed funds from the State of Iowa in 1986, the T. Wayne Davis Chair in Entrepreneurship was fully endowed and became UNI�s first named chair in 1996 from a generous gift from Adele Davis in memory of her husband, T. Wayne Davis. Through this chair, the University was able to appoint a senior faculty member to continue the tradition of support for small business that was so important to Mr. Davis.

Two years after his death in 1992, T. Wayne Davis, founder of Control-o-Fax Corporation and developer of the Control-o-Fax system, was inducted posthumously into the Iowa Business Hall of Fame. Not only was Mr. Davis a consummate entrepreneur in his own right, but his accounting innovation, the Control-o-Fax billing system, aided hundreds of small firms and professionals in gaining control of their accounting and billing systems, enhancing their own prospects for financial success.

Mr. Davis was also an active proponent of his community, tirelessly contributing his time, energy, and money to numerous causes, both in the community at large and at the University of Northern Iowa.

CURRENT T. WAYNE DAVIS CHAIR IN ENTREPRENEURSHIP

Dr. Goulet, who has been at the University of Northern Iowa since 1974, is currently the holder of the T. Wayne Davis Chair in Entrepreneurship. Dr. Goulet serves as the faculty advisor for students in either of the Certificates in Entrepreneurship and also for students taking the experiential learning component of the programs.

Dr. Goulet received his Ph.D. in Finance and Real Estate from the Ohio State University, where he also earned an MBA after graduating from Denison University with a B.A. in Economics.

In recent years, he has concentrated his teaching in the area of Strategic Management, although he has also taught Finance, Real Estate and other courses. He also serves on the faculty of the Public Policy program, and in the past has served as the editor of the Business Case Journal, the director of the MBA program, director of the John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center, and the head of both the Management and Finance departments, where he was instrumental in establishing UNI's Real Estate program.

Besides his teaching, Dr. Goulet is the author of a text in Real Estate and has had 18 articles and cases published in journals or proceedings. In addition, he has authored or co-authored 25 articles, cases or chapters which have been included in a total of 30 texts, edited books or published databases. Finally, he has made more than 30 paper presentations at professional meetings. Of the published cases, eleven have involved small firms or organizations, along with four unpublished cases.

In addition, Dr. Goulet has served as a consultant to numerous businesses and non-profit organizations, primarily in the area of strategic planning.

During nearly three years as a senior manager and several years as a consultant to senior managers, many in small firms, he has been responsible for developing strategic and operating plans and budgets, executive training programs, new product introductions, contract negotiations, financial communications and numerous other staff duties. One of Dr. Goulet's consulting clients went from a negative equity position of $13 million to a market value of more than $50 million in the four years during which he served as the organization's strategic planning facilitator.

In addition to his other activities, Dr. Goulet is a member of the board of directors of the Kiowa Corporation in Marshalltown, Iowa; the Midwest Business Administration Association, and the Society for Case Research.
