This Certificate in Entrepreneurship is open to non-business majors only. The purpose of the program is to engage students in active participation in the development of entrepreneurial enterprises. They will do this through a combination of traditional course work specifically directed to the entrepreneurial ventures and participation in a significant live enterprise experience, either through the development of a business plan for a new venture or through an internship in an ongoing entrepreneurial enterprise. Additionally, this program provides a strong foundation in small business concepts. Students must have sophomore standing to begin the program. Students who have taken business classes (120:030, 120:031, 130:101, 150:153, 920:053, 920:054) may have those classes substituted with the permission of the Chair in Entrepreneurship for 920:024 Introduction to Economics, 100:040 Business Essentials for Entrepreneurs and/or 130:101 Principles of Marketing - Entrepreneurship Emphasis. Students who have not already done so, should take the 920:024 course first. Students may complete a form for enrollment into the certificate program in the John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center's office, CBB 264. This certificate is under review to see if the program of study can be shortened and improved. Students interested in the program should enroll now and will be kept informed of the changes.
