AppsLab
The AppsLab, a program of the UNI John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center, assists UNI students, faculty, and staff with the development of mobile applications.
The AppsLab is a pilot program started in the fall of 2013 to assist faculty and staff with the development of applications which UNI believes have commercial or educational value. Additionally, students, faculty, and staff can attend free workshops which will teach the basics of app development using PhoneGap or Android.
Here's how we can help:
- Workshops
A high-level overview of the app development process can help you understand how to fit your ideas with mobile technology solutions. It is important to recognize that some applications require seasoned programmers to develop, but many powerful apps can be created using relatively accessible toolkits. AppsLab will offer a series of introductory workshops with hands-on app development experiences to get you started. Check the current list of workshops here: Fall 2013 Workshop List - 1-1 Developer Assistance
Students, faculty and staff are invited to share their ideas with AppsLab staff in private, confidential consultation sessions. AppsLab can provide technical assistance from inception through deployment on a number of ongoing projects. - Friday Forums
Get together with other app developers on campus to chat about the latest mobile technology issues, best practices and project progress. Forums will be held every Friday 2-4 p.m. in BCS 128. - Student Assistant Training
AppsLab strongly encourages faculty-student collaboration on projects that involve app development. We support a range of options to provide ongoing training to student assistants involved in faculty-led projects. - Devices & Resources
AppsLab has access to a variety of smartphones, tablets, iPads, and iPods that you can borrow to develop and test your apps.
